Orthoses can offer clients with peripheral nerve injuries immediate positioning support against deformity and also functional assistance. This webinar in two parts offers instructional videos and discusses tips and tricks for easy orthotic fabrication for a variety of options in orthotic design.
- Part 1 focuses on injuries to, and dysfunction of the median and ulnar nerves.
- Part 2 focuses on orthotic solutions for radial nerve palsy.
Recommendations for increasing patient compliance and supportive evidence are included.

Learning Objectives
- Recognize peripheral nerve dysfunction of the hand and fingers that benefit from orthotic management.
- Describe 2-3 tips and tricks for working with low temperature thermoplastic materials that benefit specific orthotic fabrication.
- Identify the steps of fabrication for 4-6 custom orthoses for the hand, thumb and fingers to address the above conditions.
- Understand the current levels of evidence to support the use of orthoses as therapeutic interventions for patients with peripheral nerve dysfunction.
